Softball Team Listed as NFCA All-Academic Team
Dahlonega, GA – The North Georgia College
& State University softball team has been listed as an NFCA
All-Academic Team according to the National Fastpitch Coaches
Association. The Saints finished the 2007-08 academic year with a
GPA of 2.99 to finish 55th in the nation among NCAA Division II
programs.
The Saints had eight players named to the 2007-08 PBC Presidential
Honor Roll, including two Gold Scholars, two Silver Scholars, one
Bronze Scholar, and three Presidential Scholars.
North Georgia’s overall GPA of 2.99 was second in the Peach
Belt Conference to Francis Marion University who posted a 3.36,
good for 14th on the NFCA All-Academic Team.
Head Coach Mike Davenport led the Saints Softball team to a record
of 39-16 overall, and a Peach Belt Conference mark of 10-8. The
Rookie-laden squad made their way to the final game of the PBC
Tournament and NCAA South Atlantic Regional before dropping one-run
games in both affairs.
