Phillips Earns PBC Weekly Honors For Third Time
AUGUSTA, GA – North Georgia College &
State University sophomore pitcher Sarah Phillips has been named
the Peach Belt Conference Pitchers of the week announced Monday
afternoon from the league office.
Sarah Phillips improved to a league-leading 27-1 with a perfect
4-0 record last week, posting an earned run average of 0.58 in 24.0
innings of work. The sophomore tossed 11.0 innings against Lander
University, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11
and allowing just three hits.
Phillips then came back against Georgia Southwestern and went all
13.0 innings in the doubleheader, giving up just six hits and two
earned runs while striking out 18 batters. She allowed just two
walks in 24.0 innings of work and tallied 29 strikeouts.
Opponents are hitting just .169 against Phillips this season,
which leads the Peach Belt Conference, while she has posted wins in
her last 24 consecutive starts. She is also second in the league in
earned run average, strikeouts, innings pitched, games started,
complete games, and shutouts.
The sophomore has led her team to wins in 29 of their last 30
games, including a current 14-game winning streak heading into the
last series of the regular season. The Saints are #3 team in the
nation for the fourth straight week, and hold the top spot in the
NCAA Southeast Region Poll for the third straight week.
