KISSIMMEE, FL – North Georgia finally had an offensive explosion and Kentucky State were the unfortunate victims, as the No. 2-ranked Saints won 12-0 at Disney.
led the 12-run attack with a 3-for-3 day, including solo home run and five RBI's. Burns also had a double, finishing a triple short of the very-difficult cycle.
The Saints (13-3) needed a game to put on cruise control after playing their previous three to extra innings. This one finished far from it, only lasting five innings before the 8-run rule came into play.
The designated hitter Callie Fernandez found her way on with a 2-for-2 day, including a double and two RBI's to get her number back to where they're used to.
Six players recorded an RBI for Mike Davenport's Saints, who were not challenged all afternoon by the SIAC-member Thorobreds.
Katherine Martin, Pilar Harden, Taylor Merritt and Hilary Cox all helped Burns and Fernandez light up the scoreboard in their second game of the day. The team smacked 11 total hits in the game.
Overshadowed by their high-powered offense, Jessica Coan and Krysten Connelly combined to no-hit Kentucky State (0-2). The two also combined to strike out eight batters.
Role players like Katie Garrett and Mackenzie Arlt also chipped in, as the two combined to go 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
North Georgia returns to the field tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM, when they look to get revenge against Saint Leo, who defeated the Saints in eight innings on Friday night.
