Saints Up Two Spots, Check in at No. 11 in Latest NFCA Top 25 Poll

DAHLONEGA, GA – After a perfect 6-0 week the North Georgia softball team moved up two spots to No. 11 in the nation according to the latest NFCA top 25 Poll.

Inclement weather in the middle of the Saints Peach Belt Conference slate back loaded their schedule with the team playing six games in four days last week.

North Georgia swept all three of their conference doubleheaders last week thanks to dominant pitching performances that saw their opponents score more than one run in only one of the six contests.

The Saints started the week shutting out UNC Pembroke at home in both ends of double header taking the opener 8-0 and game two 3-0.

Two days later North Georgia swept another doubleheader from USC Aiken, taking game one 7-0 and game two 8-5.

Head Coach Mike Davenport and his squad wrapped up the week on the road traveling to South Carolina to take on Lander. The Saints took the opener 3-1 and Jessica Coan made her return in game two as the North Georgia scored a 2-1 come-from-behind extra-inning victory. Pilar Harden's hot bat as of late provided the game-tying RBI double with two outs in the 7th inning to fuel the rally.

Valdosta State remained No.1 receiving all 16 first-place votes, while Indianapolis, Central Oklahoma, Kutztown and Tampa rounded out the top five.

The Peach Belt Conference was well represented with Armstrong (7) and North Georgia both in the top 15.

The Saints wrap up the regular season April 19, when they host Francis Marion in a PBC doubleheader. After the regular season finale North Georgia will head down to Columbus, Georgia, seeking their fourth straight PBC Tournament Championship.
