DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia women’s basketball team played their final game of the season on Saturday afternoon, welcoming Georgia College & State University to town and falling 72-68 in overtime to the Bobcats in Peach Belt Conference action.

The Lady Saints drop their final game of the season, ending the 2009-10 campaign at 9-17 overall and 4-13 in the Peach Belt Conference, while GCSU improves to 20-7 overall and 13-4 in the league’s west division, claiming first place in the west and hosting the first round of the upcoming PBC tournament.

The Bobcats jumped on top in the early going, using a three-pointer from Shandrea Moore at the 17:08 mark to give GCSU a six-point lead at 12-6. North Georgia responded with a 7-0 run over the next two minutes to take their first lead of the contest, capped by a layup from Sarah Stinson at the 14:35 mark, two of her eight first-half points to give the Lady Saints a 13-12 edge with 14:35 left in the opening period.

GCSU quickly regained the lead in the next possession and pushed their first-half lead to as many as 10 points, a margin they gained with 5:07 remaining in the period as Dominique Huffin knocked down a three-pointer to make it a 30-20 Bobcat lead.

The Lady Saints trimmed the GCSU lead to five points on a Whitney Randolph jumper with 2:05 remaining to make it 32-27, but the Bobcats hit a bucket with 26 seconds to give the visitors a 34-27 lead at the half.

The second half saw a series of lead changes as both teams held nine-point leads in the period. The Bobcats led by nine points just 30 seconds into the second half as Chimere Jordan knocked down a jumper to give the Bobcats their largest lead of the half.

North Georgia created their largest lead of the half at nine points with 5:16 remaining in the game, capping the run with a Sarah Stinson layup to give the Lady Saints a 57-48 lead.

GCSU ended regulation on a 16-4 run to force overtime where the Bobcats once again took the lead, using a pair of buckets to take a 67-63 lead with just 1:18 remaining. The Lady Saints would make it interesting in the final minute as Kari McCann launched and drained a deep three-pointer to cut the Bobcat lead back to one, but GCSU rallied with five free throws in the final minute to come away with the 72-68 overtime victory.

Whitney Randolph played in her final collegiate game, leading all scorers with 26 points, while the senior pulled down eight rebounds. Stinson tallied 16 points and tallied a double-double with 16 rebounds.

Three Georgia College players finished in double figures, led by Antoinette Reams who scored 23 points and added 13 rebounds, while Jordan chipped in 22 points and 11 rebounds.
