Lady Saints Fall to Hurricanes 84-73 on Senior Day

DAHLONEGA, GA - The North Georgia women's basketball team dropped their third straight home conference game on Saturday, falling to Georgia Southwestern 84-73 in Memorial Hall.
The loss was the second straight for the Lady Saints (12-12, 6-9 PBC) to Georgia Southwestern (9-6 PBC) as the Hurricanes swept the season series for the first time 2009-10 season.
The Lady Saints came out hot starting the game on an 11-4 run capped off by a pair of free throws by Jaymee Carnes.
The Hurricanes and the Lady Saints traded baskets throughout the first half, until Jessica Jones tied the game at 20-20 with 5:31 left until the intermission. After knotting the game the Hurricanes went on a 9-0 run over the next two minutes to take the lead and steal the momentum away from North Georgia.
Over the final 2:30 of the opening half the Lady Saints fought hard to get back into the game but the Hurricanes responded and went into the break with a 36-30 lead.
After being down six at the break, the Lady Saints made things interesting, pulling to within a basket on several different occasions in the in the second half. Georgia Southwestern answered each time, extending their lead until they pulled away late to secure the 11 point victory.
Leading the way for the Lady Saints once again was Carnes, who had yet another double-double with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Stephanie Huffman had 11 points off the bench and Crystal Moore had 10 points as well.
The Hurricanes were led by Adrian Randall who had a game high 27 points and 16 boards. The Hurricanes also had three other players in double figures.
The game was a "Play 4 Kay" game, a nationwide initiative sponsored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) that brings attention to breast cancer awareness.
The Lady Saints return to action on Wednesday night as they take on Columbus State in their final home game of the regular season. Wednesday night is SAB Spirit Night at North Georgia and tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
