#19 Nighthawks Rally Back From Early Deficit For 89-83 Win At GSW
AMERICUS, Georgia – (UNGAthletics.com) - The #19 University of North Georgia women's basketball team won its second consecutive Peach Belt Conference road game by knocking off a pesky Georgia Southwestern squad 89-83 in GSW's Storm Dome on Thursday. Four players scored in double figures led by Mimi Hill's 21 points on 8-17 shooting from the floor to help the Nighthawks rally back from 17-points down late in the first half.
Stephanie Huffman recorded her sixth double-double of the season finishing with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Jordan Livesay and Molly Rainwater each added a pair of three's on combined 4-11 shooting from beyond the arc. Kaylee Akin came off the bench to convert on her only three point attempt.
Despite losing the battle on the boards, UNG's defense came up crucial down the stretch preventing the Canes from converting on their last five shots, all coming in the last minute of the game.
The Canes were led by Tiara Thompson who scored a season-high 25 points.
North Georgia will continue its road trip by traveling Morrow, Ga. to face PBC foe Clayton State with the tip set for 1:30 on Saturday, January 25. The game can be heard on the UNG Nighthawk Basketball Radio Network with the Milton Martin Honda Pregame Show scheduled to air at 1:10.
