Women's Golf in 11th Place at Piedmont College
CLARKESVILLE, GA – The North Georgia women's golf
team is in 11th place in a field of 13 teams following Monday's
opening round of the 5th Annual Piedmont College Fall Invitational
at The Orchard Golf and Country Club.
Lady Saints recorded a round of 365 to open the year, as new
players, a new coach, and record-breaking performances were the
story of the day. Four of the five players donned North Georgia
gear for the first time, while newly named head coach Leigh Anne
Hunter paid close attention to her squad as they made their way
around The Orchard.
Catalina
Olarte recorded the low round of the day for the Lady Saints,
walking off the 18th green with an 8-over-par 80 and the lowest
round in program history. Erica Breeden and
Casey
Truelove, playing in back-to-back groups, both played their way
to rounds of 94, sitting at 12-over-par heading into Tuesday's
final round.
Jodie
Borchert and Courtney Hall
recorded rounds of 97 and 100 respectively, putting the Lady Saints
at 365 overall for the day. The 365 is also a program record,
breaking the previous mark of 399 set during the second round of
the 2010 Peach Belt Conference Championships at Callaway
Gardens.
The Lady Saints will kickoff their second and final round of the
5th Annual Piedmont College Fall Invitational at The Orchard Golf
and Country Club on Tuesday morning with a shogun start at 9:00
a.m.
