Lady Saints Finish Play at Mercer's Eat-A-Peach Classic

MACON, GA - The North Georgia Women's Golf team completed play at Mercer University's Eat-A-Peach Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, finishing 10th in the field of 11 teams at the Par-72 Oak View Golf and Country Club.

Mercer University led from wire-to-wire, finishing at 594 overall to clear second place Shorter College by 24 strokes. Flagler College took third place with a 626, while Armstrong Atlantic and Columbus State rounded out the top five tied at 654. The Lady Saints finished 10th place with rounds of 362 and 365 for a 727 two-day total.

36 holes was not enough to decide the race for the individual title as Mercer's Lacey Fears (-1) out-dueled Shorter's Greta Lange (-1) in a playoff to capture the championship. Mary Alice Murphy (Mercer), finished in third place at one-over-par, while Flagler's Leslie Choucard took fourth with a five-over-par 149.

Catalina Olarte recorded her second straight top-20 finish with a tie for 18th place overall following rounds of 78 and 81 respectively. Casey Truelove's final round 93 sent her to a tie for 46th place after an opening round 89. Erica Breeden fired her low round of the year with an 86 to move up and sit in a tie with Truelove in 46th place as the duo finished at 182 for the tournament.

Jodie Borchert finished alone in 56th place with a 204, while Courtney Hall was three spots behind her teammate in 59th position following rounds of 105 and 119 for a 224 two-day total.

The Lady Saints will take two weeks off before returning to action on October 4-5, 2010 at the Montevallo Invitational. The two-day event will take place at Timberline Golf and Country Club.
