Women's Golf in 8th Place at Coastal Georgia Invite

ST. SIMONS, GA – The North Georgia women's golf team opened their 2011 spring campaign on Monday afternoon, traveling to the Coastal Georgia Women's Winter Invitational at the Sea Island Golf Course in St. Simons, Georgia.

The Lady Saints struggled in their first round of the spring season, recording a 396 to sit in eighth place in the field of eight teams. Shorter College will hold the overnight lead, firing a 313 to top the field heading into Tuesday's final round.

Catalina Olarte paced the Lady Saints with an opening-round 15-over-par 87, and Casey Truelove recorded a 28-over-par 100. Jodie Borchert finished a stroke behind Truelove with a 101, while Erica Breeden tallied a 108, and Daisy Wright rounded out the team with a 114.

The Lady Saints will play the final round of the two-round event on Tuesday morning, teeing off on No. 1 at the Sea Island Golf Course in St. Simons, Georgia.
