Women’s Golf Wraps up BSC Southern Shootout in 14th
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – It was another long day out on the links for the North Georgia College & State University women's golf team in the 22-team BSC Southern Shootout. The Saints wrapped up the tournament with a team score of 631 between the two days that included a team score of 316 on Monday to finish 14th overall.
Senior Catalina Olarte bounced back from a slow start on Sunday to card a 75 Monday, knocking five strokes off her score from the opening round. She finished in a tie for 36th with a two-day score of 155.
Sophomore LeeAnn Noble had a career day on Monday as she set a new personal low for herself with a 79 to finish with a 164 two-day score.
Abbey Gill and Casey Truleove both shot 81 on the second day of the tournament while Mariana Pelaez finished with an 85. Gill finished with a 158 to end up in a tie for 51st while Truelove ended up two strokes back of Gill with a 160.
Lee University claimed both the individual and team titles in the tournament as they were led by Courtney Shelton's 139. The team finished with a 587, finishing seven strokes ahead of the University of Cumberlands in second place.
The women's golf team has one final tournament this fall. They will travel to St. Augustine, Fla. in two weeks to compete in the Flagler Fall Slam at the Marsh Creek Country Club from Monday, Oct. 22 through Tuesday, Oct. 23.
