Women's Golf Team Wraps Up JSU's Chris Banister Classic With A Sixth-Place Finish

GLENCOE, Ala. – (UNGAthletics.com) – The University of North Georgia women's golf team opened opened its 2013-2014 schedule as the only non-NCAA Division I school at the Jacksonville State University Chris Banister Classic.  The Nighthawks carded a 54-hole total of 345-358-353—1,056 and finished sixth out of six teams.

North Georgia's final round 353 improved on the previous day's score by five strokes and was anchored by Anna Higgins' 81 and Casey Truelove's 86.  The two were the only to break 90 over the 5,943 Silver Lakes Golf Course track.

Truelove posted the team's best finish as she ended up 29th in the 38-player field. 

Jacksonville State ran away with the team title with a 294-293-294—881 which was good for a 40-stroke victory over runner-up University of Arkansas-Little Rock.  JSU's Melani Sisto claimed individual honors with a 72067-70—209 which distanced teammate Maya Parsons by 14 strokes. 

Carrilee Heirs (83-91-92—266) and Aly Hicks (93-94-93—280) represented UNG as individuals.

UNG will return to action on September 16-17 when the team travels to Calera, Ala. to take part in the Full Moon BBQ Invitational hosted by the University of Montevallo.
