Women's Golf Sits In Seventh At Midway Point Of Montevallo's Full Moon BBQ Invitational

CALERA, Alabama – (UNGAthletics.com) – The UNG women's golf team opened up play at the Full Moon BBQ Invitational hosted by Peach Belt member Montevallo with an opening round 328 and stands in seventh place out of nine teams.  The host Falcons leads the nine-team event after registering a 305 over the par 71, 5,925 yard Timberline Golf Club.

Freshman Taylor Allen highlighted the day with a six-over 77 and stands in a tie for seventh place in the 47-player field.  Casey Truelove posted a 79 and stands in a tie for 12th while teammates Carrilee Heirs (85, t37th) and Anna Higgins (87, 42nd) rounded out the Nighthawks' scoring.

Individually, Elaine Wood of Montevallo and Shorter College's Claudia Orrantia recorded matching one-under-par scores to lead the field heading into tomorrow's final round.

North Georgia trails Columbus State University (321) by seven strokes and is a single shot clear of eighth-place Carson-Newman College (329).
