Women's Golf Team Opens Lander Lady Bearcat Invitational With 330 Team Score

HILTON HEAD, South Carolina – (UNGAthletics.com) - The University of North Georgia women's golf team is in 16th place of 18 teams Saturday after the first round of the 36-hole Lander Lady Bearcat Invitational held at the par-72, 5,864-yard Old South Golf Course. The Nighthawks opened up the two-day event with a 330 and trail first round leader Flagler College (294) by 36 strokes.

UNG is only nine strokes back of 12th place Wingate (321) but are a distant 43 strokes ahead of 17th place Young Harris.

Carrilee Hiers was the only North Georgia golfer to break 80 as she registered an opening round 79 which is good for a tie for 35th in the 88-golfer field.

Taylor Allen (80, t43rd), Abbey Gill (84, t66th) and Anna Higgins (87, 74th) rounded out the scoring for UNG. 

The final round will take place beginning tomorrow morning.
