Lady Saints drop 4-1 Contest to Wingate University
Dahlonega, GA – North Georgia College
& State University picked up a goal in the first period, but
allowed three second half goals to fall 4-1 to Wingate University
Monday evening at the Soccer Complex in non-conference action.
Wingate (10-5, 2-3 SAC) got on the board first in the 7th minute,
as Kelly Adams broke free and sent a liner just inside the left
post to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Saints would respond just eight minutes later as Danielle
Brannon sent a cross to Lauren Schenk who found the back of the net
to tie the game 1-1, a score that would hold true until
intermission.
The Second half was all about the Bulldogs, as they tallied seven
shots and three more goals to get out of town with a 4-1 victory.
Adams went right to work just 25 seconds into the second period,
scoring her second goal of the game and giving Wingate a 2-1
advantage.
Julie Zielinski and Jordan Mayer recorded goals in the 56th and
68th minute respectively to give the Bulldogs a 4-1 win. Adams
finished the game with a pair of goals and one assist to lead
Wingate to their tenth win of the season.
Kisten Ross recorded four saves for the Lady Saints in goal, but
allowed four goals to pick up the loss. Kathryn Smith allowed one
goal and tallied one save for Wingate.
North Georgia (6-5-2, 3-2 PBC) returns to Peach Belt Conference
action on Saturday, traveling to Armstrong Atlantic State
University to take on the Lady Pirates at 3:30 p.m.
