MOUNT OLIVE, NC – Facing their first deficit of the year, the North Georgia women's soccer team put together a second-half rally on Sunday afternoon to remain perfect on the season and sneak away with a 2-1 victory at Mount Olive College in non-conference action.

The win sends the Lady Saints to a perfect 2-0 mark on the young season, while the Trojans drop their season opener on their home turf at Amon Field.

North Georgia found themselves in a hole early when Mary Knepp slid a pass to Sarah Porter who finished from 15 yards out to give Mount Olive a 1-0 advantage. Despite eight shots in the opening half, the Lady Saints trailed by a goal heading into intermission.

Forced to battle back for the first time during the 2011 campaign, North Georgia proved resilient and tallied a goal 10 minutes into the second half to knot the score at a goal apiece. The Lady Saints benefited from a Mount Olive foul in the box and Natalie Douglass stepped up and drilled the penalty kick to secure the equalizer.

The score remained deadlocked until the 71st minute when Kelsey Martin played a cross to Kelly Penston in the middle and the sophomore found the back of the net to give North Georgia their first lead of the day at 2-1. The assist from Martin was her second in as many games, while Penston's goal was her first of the year and seventh in her 21-game career for the Lady Saints.

The Trojans managed a trio of shots over the final 20 minutes, but Ross recorded saves in each of the three attempts to shut down Mount Olive and give North Georgia a 2-1 victory on the road.

Ross tallied four saves on the day and picked up her second victory in as many starts on the year, while Lyndsey McIntyre had a career day for MOC in goal, stopping nine shots, but surrendering both North Georgia goals to suffer the loss.

Sitting at a perfect 2-0 on the year, Chris Adam's Lady Saints will now turn their attention to Alabama-Huntsville and date with the Chargers on Wednesday afternoon in Dahlonega. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. at the North Georgia Soccer Complex. The Lady Saints are 2-2 all-time against UAH, with the Chargers outscoring North Georgia 7-3 in those four games.
