MORROW, GA – The 11th-ranked North Georgia women's soccer team flexed their muscles in the second half on Wednesday evening at Clayton State and used a pair of goals to cruise past the Lakers 2-0 in Peach Belt Conference action.

The Lady Saints remain unbeaten at 8-0 overall and keep their position atop the league standings at 4-0 on the year in Peach Belt Conference action. The Lakers failed to pick up their first conference victory, falling to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in league play.

After a back and forth affair in the first half, North Georgia finally looked like the team fans have grown accustomed to in the second half, as they came out firing and scored the game's first goal in the 57th minute. Caroline Wallace pushed up the field and found Emily Dover on the right side and the senior fired a shot that was blocked, but Dover found the rebound and sent a shot inside the left post to give the Lady Saints a 1-0 lead.

Dover continues to be the difference for North Georgia with her third goal in the last two games and her team-leading seventh goal of the season. She has connected on back-to-back game-winning goals and has four decisive scores on the year as the Canton, Georgia, native is now the second-leading scorer in the Peach Belt Conference.

The Lady Saints were not finished with the Lakers however, as Dover found Wallace in the box in the 80th minute and the sophomore from Watkinsville, Georgia, fired home her second goal of the year to cap the scoring and give North Georgia a 2-0 victory.

Kirsten Ross was perfect in goal for the Lady Saints in her only attempt of the night, stopping a shot from Josephine Holsten in the 48th minute to record her fifth shutout of the year. Laoise O'Driscoll suffered the loss for the Lakers, allowing both North Georgia goals and picking five saves in the contest.

Dover recorded a game-high five shots with three of those on goal, while Kelly Penston added two shots with both attempts on target. Wallace pushed forward from her midfield position and tallied three shots with three on goal and recorded a goal and an assist for three total points.

The Lady Saints held an 11-6 advantage in shots and 4-3 edge in corner kicks for the match. In five road games this season, North Georgia has outscored their opponents 13-2.

Chris Adams' squad returns to action over the weekend, welcoming Carson-Newman to town for a non-conference battle at the soccer complex.

Kickoff has been pushed back four hours and is now slated to start at 5:00 p.m. North Georgia is looking to pick up their first-ever win over the Eagles in just the second meeting all-time between the two programs.
