Taylor Lee Named Capital One Academic All-American

TOWSON, Md. – North Georgia College & State University women's soccer player Taylor Lee has been named the Saints' first-ever Capital One Academic All-America selection in women's soccer as she was named to the 2012 second team as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Wednesday afternoon.

Lee is one of six Peach Belt Conference players recognized on the three teams. Armstrong Atlantic State University placed three players between the three teams while Columbus State University added two.

A senior from McDonough, Ga., Lee has been one of the anchors for the Saints' defense the last three seasons as North Georgia has gone 45-13-4 overall with a 21-7-3 mark in the conference. Over the last three years, the Saints have also recorded 23 shutouts including nine this season.

Lee started all 22 games this season and recorded 10 assists as a defender which was good enough for second in the league. Her 10 assists also leaves her second in school history for most assists in a single season and her 17 career assists also has her second all-time in school history. Her 62 career starts is good enough for fourth all-time.

Lee is a two-time PBC All-Tournament selection and was named to the Peach Belt's All-Academic squad twice as she boasts a 3.85 GPA as a Special Education Major.

Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All‐America teams programs since 2011.

The Capital One Division II and III Academic All‐America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2012‐13 DII and DIII Academic All‐America teams program.
