Wallace Hat Trick Leads #23 Women's Soccer Team Past Georgia Southwestern 13-0

DAHLONEGA, Georgia – (UNGAthletics.com) – Caroline Wallace scored a hat trick of goals to go along with a pair of assists as the 23rd ranked University of North Georgia women's soccer team breezed past visiting Georgia Southwestern State University 13-0 on Saturday at the UNG Soccer Complex.

North Georgia tallied seven first half goals and outshot the visiting Hurricanes 35-4.  Rachel Allred and Mallory Sayre combined for the shut out in goal as the duo collected all three shots GSW was able to put on frame.

Wallace opened the scoring just over three minutes into the contest when she bounced the ball in following an assist from Cicely Taliaferro.  UNG used a pair of header goals by Jacy Ramey (11:31) and Taliaferro (16:59) to extend the lead to 3-0 with just under 30:00 remaining in the first half.  Lindsey Freese assisted Ramey's goal with a well-placed corner kick while Wallace's cross was able to free up Taliaferro for her goal.

Wallace would again find her way into the box score when she would clean up a rebound off a goalkeeper save at the 21:41 mark.

In the 28th minute Kelly Penston, the Peach Belt's leading scorer, would find the back of the net with another nifty pass from Wallace.

Goals by Kayla Croom and Mackenzie Robbins would round out the Nighthawks' first half scoring.

After intermission, Wallace picked up where she left off when the senior scored her fourth goal of the season at the 58:36 mark with Freese registering her third assist of the day.

Taliaferro would find her second goal of the day and third of the season just four minutes later when she would head in a corner kick off the foot of Megan Morrow.

Goals by Croom and Mollie Arrendale were separated by just over a minute before an own goal by GSW would extend the UNG lead to 12-0 with under six minutes remaining.

Penston would net her 13th goal of the season with just under three minutes remaining to cap the day.

North Georgia improves to 9-2-0 overall and 4-1-0 in Peach Belt play while the loss drops GSW to 0-11-1 and 0-5-1.

UNG returns to action on October 16 when the team makes the short trip down to Morrow, Ga. to take on Clayton State University at 5:00.
