Lady Saints Keep Win-Streak Alive, Soar Past Eagles

JEFFERSON CITY, TN – The North Georgia women's tennis team made it four straight wins on Wednesday afternoon, traveling to Carson-Newman College and knocking off the Eagles 7-2 in non-conference action.

The Lady Saints extend their season-long winning streak to four matches, improving to 11-11 on the year, while the Eagles fall to 7-9 overall.

North Georgia took an early lead in doubles play as Laura Chapman and Stasa Vujosevic continued to play well No. 1 doubles, cruising by Taryn Cappadona and Katie Brown for an 8-1 victory. Juliana Moscoso Chiang and Jordan Poole were also winners at No. 2 doubles, toppling Stefy Stand and Devon Jennings 8-5 to give the Lady Saints a 2-1 lead heading to singles play.

The Lady Saints were nearly perfect in singles action, taking five of the six matches to pull away for the 7-2 victory. Chapman continued to produce at the top of the lineup, improving to 13-7 on the year in singles play with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Cappadona.

Vujosevic had the only three-set match of the day, defeating Stand 4-6, 6-0, 6-4, while Chiang, Marlette, and Poole were all winners in close matches.

North Georgia returns to action Saturday afternoon, traveling to Tusculum College to take on the Pioneers. The final match of the 2011 season for the Lady Saints is set for 2:30 p.m.
