Nighthawks Breeze To Second Meet Victory In Less Than A Week
CLEVELAND, Georgia – (UNGAthletics.com) – The University of North Georgia made it two straight as the Nighthawks breezed to the team title at the Truett-McConnell Invitational Friday evening on the TMC campus. UNG tallied 16 team points finishing a distant 52 points ahead of the host Bears.
The meet title is the second consecutive for North Georgia in less than a week as the Nighthawks are on the heels of grabbing the North Georgia Invitational Saturday morning.
UNG's Alyssa Sale finished third out of 63 runners with a time 22:53 on a very hilly and challenging 5K course. Immediately following Sale in a pack was teammates Caitlin Connell (23:01, 4th), Taylor Long (23:47, 5th) and Emma Robbins (23:54, 6th) was clear proof of the Nighthawks' team depth.
Jessica Ursprung rounded out the team scoring with a ninth-place time of 24:13 as five of the top nine runners were from North Georgia.
Also posting top-20 finishes were Brianna Moring (24:21, 11th) and Sallie Davis (24:33, 13th).
Only 11 of UNG's 17 rostered runners participated in the event.
Life University's Misha Peltier (21:25) won the race finishing a full minute ahead of runner-up and teammate Patricia Falero (22:32).
UNG returns to action on Saturday, September 28 when the team travels to Charlotte, N.C. to take part in the Charlotte XC Invitational hosted by UNC-Charlotte.
