North Georgia makes strong showing at Pre-Conference event

Saints off to Auburn Invitational next weekend

EVANS, GA - North Georgia College and State University was led by Tiffany Rives and Michael Valentine for the first time this season as the women finished seventh and the men took sixth place here Saturday morning at the PBC Pre-Conference meet hosted by Augusta State.

In the women’s 6k race, Columbus State took the title with 52 points, followed by Augusta State and Georgia College. North Georgia finished seventh with 209 points and an average time of 28:57.49.

Rives crossed the line first for the Lady Saints in 25th position in a time of 27:42.47, and Emmy Lawalin finished just two spots later in 27th place with a time of 27:44.52. Bea Nelligan followed in 50th place posting a time of 29:08.48.

Savannah Bryce and Jessica Anderson rounded out the top five for the Lady Saints with times of 30:00.23 and 30:11.71 respectively.

On the men’s side, the 10k race was won by Columbus State with 52 points, while Nova Southeastern University and Benedict College rounded out the top three. North Georgia finished sixth with 151 points and an average time of 39:25.63.

Valentine recorded the highest Saints finish of the season as he crossed the finish line in 16th position with a time of 36:55.16. Alan Schmitz finished in 22nd position with a time of 37:29.29, and David Beall followed in 41st place in a time of 40:06.87.

Josh Kerzie and Dustin LaBarge rounded the top five for the Saints in 44th and 45th positions with times of 41:10.96 and 41:25.86 respectively.

Both teams will be back in action on Saturday, September 29, as they head to Auburn University to compete against some of the best teams in the nation at the Auburn Invitational.
