Sewanee, TN – North Georgia College &
State University had their highest finishes of the season Friday
evening as the women won the team title with 27 total points, and
the men finished third out of four teams at the Tiger Twilight
Invitational.
Emmy Lawalin led the women to the team victory with her second
place finish in the 6k event, crossing the line in 24:18. Taylor
Hanson finished just two places later in fourth place with a time
of 25:22, and Candace Chumley, Meghan Riggin, and Loren Blake
finished 6th, 7th, and 8th to lead the Lady Saints the victory.
North Georgia placed three more runners in the top 15, including
Katie Vance who finished 11th, Bea Nelligan in 13th place, and
Clare Madrid in 14th.
The men finished third at the invitational, led by senior Alan
Schmitz who posted his fastest time of the year in 28:06, which was
good for 7th place overrall. Tyler Mattix and Teale Marchette also
finished in the top ten with times of 28:39 and 28:50
respectively.
Alex Kenna and Kyle Ashcroft posted finishes in the top 15 as
Kenna crossed the line in 28:56, and Ashcroft followed in
29:30.
Both teams will be back in action Saturday, October 11, traveling
to Furman University with the first race scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
