Bowers and Schmitz Hit NCAA Provisional Marks
DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College &
State University track & field athletes Dillon Bowers and Alan
Schmitz have met the provisional mark for the NCAA Division II
National Championships in the pole vault and 800-meter events
respectively.
Last week at the Jacksonville State University’s Gem of the
Hill Invitational, Dillon Bowers took first place in the
men’s pole vault event, clearing 4.58 meters to defeat Brad
Passen of Alabama-Huntsville who cleared 4.32 in his final attempt.
Bowers is currently ranks 10th in the nation among Division II
athletes in the pole vault.
Alan Schmitz also hit the NCAA Division II provisional mark in the
800-meter event last week at the Tiger Classic on the campus of
Auburn University. The senior crossed line first in his heat and
second overall with a time of 1:51.40, finishing only behind Adam
Hairston of the University of Iowa who won the meet in 1:50.56.
Schmitz is currently ranked 4th in the country among Division II
athletes in the 800-meter event.
